Dick Cheney is coming to Minnesota to drum up support for Mark Kennedy to be the next U.S. Senator from MN. Minnesota already has one Senator who is a Republican. We absolutley must have a Democrat replace Democrat Mark Dayton in 2006.
I was listening to Klobuchar on Air America Minnesota as I was driving home yesterday and she mentioned that it would cost donor $4200 to have their photo taken with Cheney. Amy is having a corn feed--absolutely Minnesotan if you ask me. Any donation this weekend gets a person a ticket to the corn feed.
Vice President Dick Cheney is coming to Minnesota -- it will cost $4,200 to take a picture with him. But if you contribute online by Monday and help fill the ear of corn, you will receive a free ticket to Amy's Annual Corn Feed, including picture with Amy and a home-grown ear of corn! $4,200 for Dick Cheney or a Victory for Amy. Donate today!

I really like her. She knows she must raise funds and that it is a necessary part of the political game in America. Mark Dayton didn't like the fundraising aspect and he is moving on with his life. But now we do not have an incumbent Senator running.
The Senate seat is up for grabs in Minnesota Yes, we are a Blue state but we keep electing Republicans which sickens me.
I am very excited about Amy Klobuchar's campaign. I thought she seemed very genuine and down to earth while listening to her yesterday. Her experience as Hennepin County Attorney seems to have her in tune with diverse groups of people. Her passion for justice certainly seems authentic.
Here is a bit from her website that I thought was cute:
The highlight of July so far was taking our daughter, Abigail, with me for visits to Rochester, Mankato, Morris, Fergus Falls, Moorhead and Alexandria. I kept calling it a "little mother-daughter summer vacation" to which she would always roll her eyes and say, "most normal people don't put stickers with their names on them on perfect strangers during their summer vacations, MOM." She especially enjoyed the Harry Potter party and the wand and potions that we took back from Moorhead.
I suppose some cynical people would say that she was using her daughter to help campaign but I see it that she was just trying to find a way to campaign and also spend time with her daughter. Campaigning is obviously a huge time commitment and I respect her for not losing focus of her family in the process.
My husband and I will be going to the corn feed. I certainly hope to see other dKos fans from MN there.
