Gubernatorial candidate for Maryland in 2006 Mayor Martin O'Malley (D) of Baltimore City has just announced that his running mate will be Prince George's County Delegate Anthony Brown!
This is great news that the Mayor has chosen someone so capable and deserving for the position of Lt. Governor of Maryland.
Governor Ehrlich's (R) prospect of reelection- despite his huge fundraising efforts, are looking gloomier every day now.

Below is from the announcement e-mail (formal announcement on Dec. 12th in Newton White Mansion at 9:00am in Mitchellville, MD at 9:00am)
"When I was considering this choice, I had three criteria: a person who is ready to assume the responsibilities of Governor, if needed; someone who shares my values and vision for our state; and someone with whom I could work closely as a partner to move our state forward. Anthony Brown is a tested leader - as Majority Whip and a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. We share the same dreams for the people of our state. And among many outstanding public servants, he was the clear choice.
Anthony has an impressive background and a record of outstanding achievement. He is currently Majority Whip of the House of Delegates and represents District 25 in Prince George's County. Anthony recently finished a tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. Army. He has been a statewide leader on higher education affordability and public safety. A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, Anthony and his wife, Patricia, have two wonderful children, Rebecca and Jonathan."
