This weekend, there was a huge pow-wow down in Colorado Springs, bringing together all the elements of the Democratic Party of Colorado. If you want to see a great run down and pictures from the event, check out First Vice Chair of the State party Dan Slater's blog at

Andrew Romanoff is the young, up-and-coming Speaker of the House in Colorado. He is also my state representative. I've met him 3 times now, shook his hand, and gone to his fundraisers. He's gonna be President some day, I tell you, so be on the look out.
But this diary advertised Andrew showing us how it's done, so I deliver. What is he showing us? It's called: how to make a laughing stock out of the entire religious right "single issue" push into government. He calls out the B.S. which is the platform of the GOP who loves nothing more than to beat the "Guns, Gods, and Gays" Drum.
So, check out the flip
Observe:
Romanoff began (his speech) by poking fun at Republicans, who lost control of the legislature in 2004 for the first time since 1962.
"If you took a trip to the Capitol in the first part of this decade and judged (legislators) by the way we spent our time in that building, you would have thought that the biggest problem in this state was the gangs of gays and lesbians who were raiding Mexican villages, taking away children, only to place them in single-sex households without the benefit of a firearm or the Pledge of Allegiance," he said.
The applause and laughter were so loud he had to stop.
"Now I don't mean to shortchange those priorities," he said, "but the truth is, this is a state with real problems on its hands."
That is how you do it people... and we can do this in your state, in my state, and on the national level. We have real problems we have to deal with (like deficits, health care, Iraq, etc.) and the GOP would have you believe our biggest problem are "the gangs of gays and lesbians".
My hat's off to you Mr. Romanoff. You da man.
