Well, I went and saw Granny D this weekend, and I am very happy to report she is doing well, and is recovering at a pace that would be impressive for a woman on thirty, never mind a woman who just turned 95 this last January.
I don't know what I was expecting, but when I showed up to visit yesterday afternoon, I certainly didn't exepct to see her talking. They said she most likely would not be able to speak after the surgery, and then there she was, chatting it up with one of her friends when I walked into the room.
We talked a little bit of politics, mostly she just wanted to know how we were putting it to the Republicans, and whether or not I was pulling my weight. We laughed and carried on like a couple of sixty years olds. ;)
One thing that did concern me was I found out that her campaign for Senate left the race $50K in debt. I want to start a drive to collect the money to dig her campaign out, because she truly is an inspiration to us all, and deserves to not have a problem like that hanging over her head. She has enouch to worry about with the throat surgery and such. If you can help (even just a dollar would be helpful if all of us gave one), go here and give what you can.
She wanted me to let all of you know that she is not done fighting. She is still planning on being just as active as she always was, and it will take a little more than some majr surgery to take her out of the game, period.
Long live Granny D!
