So a very conservative white guy... a choice going against the Washington rumor-fest. Why would Bush go against a reasonable candidate and go for a very tough battle?
Now, as I secure my foil-hat, does the Rove-gate scandal have something to do with Bush's choice? Granted, we know that he lives in a little bubble world where he is incredably popular and most of America has the same beliefs as his ultra-conservative base (hence the past year of Leninist "Town Hall" meetings. even after the Social Security issue was all but dead)... we also know he owes much to the Christian Fundementalists...
But this sort of slap in the face to moderates and the other %49 (well, higher now), might be an attempt to make sure Rove will be overlooked??
