So I have found a good New York meet-up spot, which offers not just beer, but also the possibility of tea and some low-priced nosh (Karaoke is coming down the pike, I just thought it was a little too-advanced for the first time around so don't worry, you will see me singing Nancy Sinatra yet!). Here are the details:
Let's all meet on Wednesday March 30th at 7:00 at:
Yaffa's Tea Room
353 Greenwich Street (at Harrison)
Take the 1 or 9 to Franklin or the 2 or 3 to Chambers.
I'm going to make reservations so if you could drop me an email and let me know you're coming, that would be great. My email address is JaneKnowles@Gmail.com.
One and all are invited. I think the DailyKos connection is important, but not a requirement. In fact, let's see if we can't pull in new recruits that we can convert into D-Kos addicts (note to self: don't forget to bring the mushroom kool-aid!). As well, please feel free to link this diary into your signature. Already a couple of Kossaks have pitched in by suggesting places so if there's anyway you'd like to help out organizing, just drop me a line and let me know.
As for what's on the agenda, I feel like just us getting together and speaking to each other face to face is a pretty important political act, but I'm guessing that a lot of you, while capable of slacking with the best of them, like typical New Yorkers crave actually DOING something.
So here's my assignment: let's all think about something we could put our collective energies into. TP-ing Gracie Mansion? Leaving a burning bag of dog poop on Guiliani's condo doorstep? Or uhh, maybe even something as simple (and sane) as composing a diary on our group's endorsement for the next major. Whatever you can think of---but let's shoot for a theme that's fun and creative.
We got the power people. Let's use it to make New York a more Democratic place to live in. Who knows what could happen when we put our hearts and minds together.
p.s. While out searching for a good meetup spot this past weekend, I actually stumbled upon a bar called Kos!
p.s.s. If you are lurking and have alread had a meetup in another city, your suggestions are welcome! (Thanks McJoan and Seattle Liberal who have already helped out with suggestions and encouragement!)
