There's much noise and heat and tearing out of hair over some of the, um, let us say more flamboyant styles of some dKos members. Most of it is, IMHO, much ado about nothing.
Wouldn't it be nice, though, to raise as much ruckus about the countless acts of spontaneous kindness and generosity that is enacted every single day in this village? It's not that we don't have our warm and fuzzy moments here. Surely the mojo lovefest known as Cheers and Jeers has become the paradigm for a warmer, gentler, dKos. Carnacki's Got a Happy Story series continues the theme. PastorDan not only reminds us how lucky we are, but makes a space for us to give thanks each week.
But, there's a lot more than that going on here...
Here's my list of some of the ordinary, everyday kindnesses that I see repeated over and over again:
Nurturing newbies
No matter how many times someone asks "how do you make that gray box" or "what does WYFP mean" or "how do I post an image," someone responds with patience and kindness. Please, take a bow.
Mojo meisters
Someone is going to say something about mojo inflation or the indiscriminate use of mojo and there's certainly been enough meta diaries about what do ratings really mean. Shoo, go away. I want to shine a spotlight on those generous souls who will go through 582 C&J comments, sprinkling 4's like fairy dust, because they know that for the recipient it means someone was listening. A toast to you.
Super snarkers
If you weren't there to make us laugh, spew coffee on our monitors, snort milk out of our noses, we'd all be in jail for aggravated assault on the nearest wingnut. Face it, funny people are just plain smarter than those who'd rather die than fart out loud. Have a whoopie cushion on us.
So, thanks to everyone who makes this a great neighborhood. And if you don't fall into one of the above categories---pfffft to you!
And take the poll.
