John Edward's 2004 campaign platform argued that there are two America's.
America with a capital `A' is the place the media reports about. It's a land where the economy is robust, the war is a noble cause and the president is doing a `heck of a job' reducing waste and cutting taxes.
This brings us to America with the little `a'. Almost ninety nine percent of us live in little `a' although less than eighty percent admit it, a place where wages are stagnant, job security is an oxymoron and most of us live hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck.
While the notion of class war is often dismissed in the land of big `A', it's alive, well and in your face everyday in little `a'.
On the job, in the street and in your mailbox you know exactly where you stand; there's no getting away from it.
What does it mean to the denizens of little `a' when the president of big `A' ignores the law of the land?
The people of little `a' already know he'll get away with it, the law will be jiggled and honed and the appearance of defiance will become just that, the appearance of defiance and not a crime worthy of prosecution.
For TWO CENTURIES the citizens of little `a' have patiently waited for justice, hoping against hope that men both good and true would act to keep the voracious owner class in check...
For two friggin' centuries.
How has our patience been rewarded? HEW, Health, Education and Welfare.
A publicly funded education system that saved the owner class from having to educate workers themselves. A publicly funded welfare system to support those commerce could not profitably employ.
Our Healthcare system used to be publicly funded until speculators saw the opportunity to turn it into a for profit nightmare.
With all due respect, the `progressives' among us are peddling more of the same. National healthcare that will lift the burden of healthcare from the employer class, publicly funded higher education for jobs that won't be there and a broader publicly funded social safety net for those commerce doesn't have jobs for.
Every one of these proposals serves to increase the tax burden on little `a' while lifting it from big `A'...how `progressive' is that?
Let's not forget energy policy where the pain will fall squarely upon--you guessed it, little `a'!
You don't hear one progressive pundit calling for a 100% tax on all income over, say, $100,000 do you? Well, that's what it's going to take to pay for all of this.
There is no friggin' magic! People already living hand to mouth TODAY can NOT afford to `wait' another generation for these already failed proposals to produce zero results!
How long are you willing to suffer so big `A' can be rich?
I'm tired of proposals that don't even come close to addressing the real problems people living in little `a' face every day.
Understand that the aggressive posture being displayed by big `A' lays the groundwork for the shredding of civil liberties here in little `a'.
Cops approach a Ford with a far different mindset than when they approach a Limousine...or anything with a `special' license plate on it for that matter.
Rules by them for us. Big `A' doesn't fear for their civil liberties, their emblems and badges put them safely above persecution as well as prosecution.
What? Don't have any special signs that show you're a card-carrying member of Big `A'? Looks like it's time to worry.
Even if you don't subscribe to the idea of class war the denizens of Big `A' make it plain that you are beneath them. You don't have to agree with them you just need to understand where they're coming from.
You may not hate them but they despise you. It's bad enough that you're jealous of their `good fortune' but they're convinced you're always conspiring to rob them and that's why they can't stand you!
Need proof? Who hasn't heard their employer grumble about people not working hard enough or heard them claim others are `too lazy' to succeed in the business world?
If you think either statement is patently true then you'd best make sure you get your hands on some of those symbols and badges we were talking about earlier...if you've got the money and connections that is.
Our BS economy should have collapsed under it's own weight decades ago but as long as they have a printing press and paper they'll never run out of money...which doesn't mean you won't.
So understand what I'm saying here, our society is being run by criminals. We can't use the ballot box to oust them because they control the media and the media crowns whoever they're told to crown.
Why do you think it's called a `secret' ballot? Because there's no way you'll ever know for sure.
The solution, if you have the stomach for it, is simple. We must start over.
The goal, simply put, is to forge our society into one nation where all will prosper. To achieve that goal we must enact legislation that prohibits the exploitation of one human by any other.
With this single law as a foundation we can rebuild our society so every citizen has a job that pays a living wage and is entitled to free healthcare, education and welfare from the cradle to the grave.
Because that one law cuts out the `middleman', the one who steals it from you and rapes everyone else for as much as they can get.
Everyone produces and contributes. Everyone is rewarded for their efforts and uses that reward to build the life they want.
Funny how simple ideas work best.
Thanks for letting me inside your head,
