There is no need to re-invent the wheel here folks. New liberal groups are popping up on the internet left a right, almost daily. Innovation is not a bad thing but I've noticed some redundancy. There is a downside to redundancy because there is a large cost associated with this in terms of the technological development. Creating simple things such as mailing lists, blogs, html, pretty pictures and content takes a lot of time. In a sense we are reinventing the wheel almost daily.
What liberal communities need to do is to work together a bit more. For example, I suggest that we use the infrastructure that DFA has built and integrate that with our dailykos community. I suggest a partnership in which our pseudo-internet-think-tank is incorporated with the already existing local DFA community groups. This sort of partnership can't be a bad thing.
Furthermore, rather than constantly investing in new autonomous liberal organizations, if people within our own community have ideas I suggest the creation of a "dailykos labs" much like the "Google labs" in which our mission statement could be: "our technology playground in which new tools are tested, to connect the grassroots to information to empower the average citizen". This could be an amazing Endeavour.
We've got to dream big. And we have to organize today.
