As a lifelong Democrat, I have of course been increasingly dismayed and alarmed by what George W. Bush has done to this country. From exploding our national debt by giving away tax money to the rich, to ignoring real health care reform, to lying about plunging us into a bloody mess in the middle east....all of it disgusts me. I read recent polls that suggest that rest of the country is finally wising up to the lies. I would like to think that Democratic voices finally will be heard again in the coming election cycles. Now is the time when we can talk about Dem. ideas to change the direction of this country. Instead, we get nonsense from Howard Dean about the makeup of the Rep. party.
The things he says may well be true, but it is a mere sideshow and does nothing to further the debate we need to have in this country about how to get other countries to help us dig our way out of the mess we have made in Iraq. It does nothing to help us solve our health care crisis. It does nothing to help us address our frightening national debt. Consider that the MSM (and Fox news, etc...) will take ANY opportunity to look at distractions rather than real issues. They will focus on runaway brides, Michael Jackson, another rich white girl missing in Aruba etc.. Now some comments by Dean give them an excuse to spend endless hours discussing the remarks, assessing if the remarks help or hurt Dems, looking at other Dems who have run away from the comments, etc.... It is just more bullshit news, when we need to hear what the Dems wanna actually DO if they get power. Look, there is a limited amount of news time the Dems will get-why waste it with this kind of nonsense?? We need to MAKE the media talk about real issues, not silly name calling. I would love to see a Dem party that unites around positive messages that offer specifics. I want reasons to respect my party's positions, and quite frankly, I want to know exactly what my Democratic party proposes to do about our problems. How about a clear message articulated by many Dems acros the board that tells the country Dem ideas about:
What to do about Social Security?
What to do about the millions of working people who have no health care?
How to get other countries to help us dig our way out of the mess that we have made in Iraq?
How to hold the Pres accountable for his actions in Iraq (including the manufactured reasons for the war?
Come on Dems, give me a reason to be enthusiasic about my own party besides disgust with the Bush regime
