Little by little during May we've gotten the MSM to pay attention to the political bombshell from Britain, Tony Blair's Iraq war council minutes. Excellent organizational work has been done in blogosphere, especially by several Kossacks (we know who you are). But much more still needs to be done before the trickle of stories can turn into a flood.
The problem is underlined by this fact, that even Rep. Conyers has found it difficult to convince several news organizations to cover the story. They remain unusually resistant to reporting on this potentially explosive story--even after several newspapers have taken the lead with hard-hitting stories. It will be quite a job wearing down that resistance. It can be done; it seems that WaPo broke down after being inundated with letters.
What can we do better, in practical terms, to push this story firmly into the MSM? Direct our energies; compile information; use it to focus our campaign like a laser on selected targets, one after another. My suggestion for how you can contribute comes below the fold.
I'm asking that readers post information here about MSM types whom they have asked to report on DSM, noting whether anything at all has yet been printed/aired. Distinct threads should be devoted to each of the following groups:
(a) local newspapers and local TV stations you've contacted asking that they report on DSM [one thread per state];
(b) national TV networks contacted;
(c) national newspapers contacted;
(d) print news magazines/newsletters etc. contacted;
(e) radio shows contacted;
(f) other news outlets (e.g. eZines) contacted;
(g) freelance journalists contacted;
(h) columnists contacted.
It will also be useful to know how many Kossacks have contacted each outlet/person identified here. As regards the big TV/Cable news outlets, you could just click on the poll below.
Once we have a list of where the requests for coverage have been going until now, we can refocus those energies strategically, one target at a time. I think focusing on one or two per day would inundate the target, making resistance to the story much more difficult. That's the plan anyway. Please help.
