who do you believe, George Bush or the Chief of Police in Basra ???
more below the fold
Deep into a NY Times article describing George's latest press conference, in nearly the last paragraph, we get this opinion from
George Bush:
he pronounced himself "pleased with the progress" in Iraq, including the installation of a democratic government; expressed confidence in the ability of the Iraqis to develop their own security; and said the insurgents were being driven to greater violence by the prospect of seeing democracy take root.
Or you could believe the Chief of Police in Basra:
The chief of police in Basra admitted yesterday that he had effectively lost control of three-quarters of his officers and that sectarian militias had infiltrated the force and were using their posts to assassinate opponents.
Hummmm, who should we believe here ???
