This is an add-on to a diary I did earlier today. My diary did not receive as much comment as I would have liked because I posted right behind another shorter diary on the same topic.
I would still welcome comments on that diary.
Meantime, not the entire US media were asleep at the switch when it came to the misrepresentation of al-Libbi as "number 3 after Khalid Shaikh Mohammed". Read on.
The
Chicago Tribune offered a balanced appraisal of al-Libbi's worth on May 6, two days before the
London Times supposedly "broke the news" that al-Libbi wasn't such a big shot.
That story appears to be based on an AP story which appears in full here in the Whittier (CA) Daily News.
So credit where due, some in the media were doing their job.
