By sticking to the rather fact-based assertion that Republicans are merely the party of White Christians, Dean ignored many well known characteristics and traits of the modern day Republican, some of which I hope he addresses in his next informative public discussion.
Republicans are self serving, deceitful, spiteful, hate-filled, war-mongering, lying, bullying, shameless, angry, crazed, gluttonous, greedy, callous, barbaric, overbearing rubes who will happily grind the heel of their boot into the neck of any who offer a different world view to their own.
Not only that, but they are sniveling, cowardly, hollow, shallow, narrow-minded, stubborn, self centered, hypocritical, ignorant, pretentious, cheating, self righteous morons who worship the practice of deception and manipulation as if it were a god itself, and are happy to let others bear the burden of the consequences of their deceit.
Not only that, but they are boorish, money-grubbing, mischievous, controlling, prideful, envious, craven, corrupt, sneaky, reprehensible, insincere, conniving little weasels so far out of the mainstream, they couldn't travel there without help from Jack Abramoff's credit card.
Not only that, but they are idolatrous, diabolical, wicked, avaricious, depraved, sinister, immoral, dis(as)sembling, flatulent, barren, unimaginative, uninspiring dimwits, who believe the only trustworthy news is that which supports what they already believe to be true.
I've read a lot of comments in the OMGDSS (Oh My God Dean Said Something) diaries that worry about "offending" Rebublicans, but jeez folks, they're already pretty offensive.
There is as little hope for turning a die-hard Republican into a decent, compassionate, caring, loving, humble, intelligent, forward thinking, creative, sympathetic human being as there is for a Democratically hosted cable TV show.
The only way Democrats have any chance (and believe, me I was yelling this at the top of my lungs prior to Nov 2004), is to appeal to that soft underbelly of the politically slothful who don't vote, and haven't been paying attention.
I personally hope that Howard Dean continues to expose the Republicans for the nasty, mean, vile, degenerate, disgraceful, scandalous, perverted, dishonorable, stingy, belligerent, oppressive, tyrannical bastards that they are.
(with thanks to http://www.rhymezone.com/ try it! it's fun)
