There is talk amongst Iranian and Saudi Arabia officials to
"Create parlimentary system among regional governments"
So what would drive governments in the Middle East, that have had a long history of differeces, to begin discussions of a new entity that would promote unity?
The Saudi Arabian interior minister noted that strengthening Tehran-Riyadh ties would be a very effective way to establish regional peace, stability, and security.
He also said Iran and Saudi Arabia are responsible for expanding regional cooperation in line with new developments and crises in the region.
Meanwhile, the Middle East is in a critical situation in view of the United States' military and occupation policy in the region.
The occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq are two clear examples of U.S. meddling in regional affairs under the pretext of the campaign against terrorism, which it launched after the September 11 attacks.

Obviously, foreigner powers do not want to see such cooperation and are trying to hinder it by fostering discord among regional states.
Yet, they will not succeed, since regional countries know that cooperation is in their best interests.
Granted the chances that such an entity could stay together amongst nations that have constantly distrusted each other and disagreed on policy is remote. Still, it is testimony to how failed this policy can potentially be if the result is an emergence of a unified middle east security organization amongst the most important oil producing countries in the world that is in direct conflict with US interests. Not to mention armed with Iranian nuclear weapons.
