This
story has made the rounds today:
Yeah he's a neat freak. Yadda yadda he like Cheetos or Doritos, or whatever.
The question we should be getting our fellow Americans to ask is:
"Why exactly does Saddam say he "thinks fondly" of the late Ronald Reagan"?
The current angle is the cutesy one: "look everyone! This infamous monster shares a few traits with us, like an addiction to snack food!! And a fondness for one of our most beloved political figures! I tell you, that Ronnie could charm anyone---even a brutal killer!
But we need to change the attention to this key quote:
The jailed former Iraqi leader described how Reagan, who was president during the time of Iraq's 1980-88 war with Iran, sold him planes and helicopters. ,"Reagan and me, good,"' Saddam said, according to the article by Lisa DePaulo in the July issue that goes on sale June 28.
Of course this is "old news" to us and to inside-the-beltway types, but I'll bet it's still new news to a lotta Americans.
So, now that Saddam is a notorious celebrity and about to be part of an celebrity show trial, can't we exploit the curiosity about his living habits and snack food preferences into some questions about why things were soooooooooooooooo good from this brutal killer who gassed his own people when good old Ronnie was in the saddle?
