So, I just encountered the outrageous story of
USMC Pfc. Jeremy Tod, and my immediate thought was: so much for Republicans "supporting our troops". This thought was immediately followed by, "I wish I had Mr Tod's address -- I'd mail him a fiver."
And that thought, of course, led into the notion that Democrats ought to start a "Support Troops who got Screwed by the GOP" project. (Ideas for snappier names are welcome.) Find a way to connect people like John Tod -- people who are being forced to pay out of pocket to protect their own lives and the lives of their loved ones -- and funnel donations to them from people who actually care about troops staying alive, unlike the 101st Fighting Keyboarders and the Yellow Elephants of the Young GOP.
Is anybody out there, with more savvy than I possess about online organizing, interested in such a project?
