Blogger asserts: The mainstream media's resistance to the Downing Street Memos is in the death throes.

Although little fanfare has been created in the news by the notes of a meeting that took place in Britain in 2002 on Downing Street, liberal blogger Avian asserts that the dam is about to break, "We(the memos) got some time on MSNBC, there was an article in the LA Times, and Bob Herbert mentioned it in an op-ed piece for the NY Times. Things are looking good. It (the media's resistance to the memos) is in the death throes for sure."
However, some have questioned just how close to defeat the mainstream media is. "What?! Death throes, you gotta be kidding me, " says former NY Times public editor Paul Okrent. " Have you SEEN the headlines today? Hell, even that KKK guy getting convicted is old news. People want to know about the boy scout who disappeared."
Others say that the increase in media avoidance may be a symptom that the bloggers are winning the war on the reporting of the DSM's. When asked about this, Okrent replied " Right, if it's not about a cute blond getting kidnapped in some resort town, then they may as well be pissing up a flagpole. Winning the war? Give me a break."
Others disagree. Lefty blogger MannyScot asserts, "We are turning the corner on this story. Blogs across the internet are putting up links to the memos." Another blogger under the alias of Representative John Conyers asserts, "We are gaining momentum. Didn't you see that nasty letter I wrote to the editor of the Post. I tore him up. I'm sure after that it(the memos) will get front page attention."
The optimism of the blogworld's defeat of the so-called mainstream media(MSM) is catching on. SteveK writes, "It's only a matter of time before we can pull out and let the reporters begin the reconstruction of the news outlets. But until then we can't let up; withdrawal of our numerous posts and tirades is not an option." Avian added that " Public awareness of the DSM is growing and I am confident that the MSM will choose to cooperate and welcome us with roses."
