As Dubya's numbers tumble and the middle crumbles the noise machine is running out of evil doers to pin it on. Al Qaeda was a visible, very real adversary, but OBL slipped away. Forget him we were told he's been neutralized. Then there was Saddam. He was good for a while.
Unfortunately Saddam had a shelf life. He did, however, have a good run. He enabled a beating of drums, the bending of truth and a bullying of the intelligence establishment that avenged daddy and lined a few pockets as shock and awe prevailed. "I am a War President" was declared, and oh, let us not forget that the mission was accomplished. Dubya was the shining light.
Alas, it hasn't completely worked out quite the way he'd hoped. The situation in Iraq is untenable, SS privitazation is exposed and the national debt is a scandal. Okay, he's screwing the middle class, the environment and just about every social, labor and consumer protection previously provided, but the sky is falling on our Lame Duck. All this must keep Dubya up at night because as we all know he ain't to blame.
So who's next? Tinky Winky didn't work out and SpongeBob bounced back. The media? Nah, that could upset the Mega Corporations and effect their bottom line. The Democrats? Sure, pick an easy target. What's that they're fighting back? Nuts, get Joe Biden or Joe Lieberman on the horn they're always good for a point or two. Nobody's listening to them? Phooey. The military? No, that would be bad for the magnet industry.
Hmm, wonder who's next?
