The Will to Win by By Neil Cavuto
Neil Cavuto wonders aloud about the traitorous media.
more under the fold....
I wonder what would have happened if there were television crews at Valley Forge (search) when Washington's troops were freezing and the British were winning.
Is Neil suggesting we are losing? Doesn't he know that we are turning the corner around the last throes?
Or in the many months after Pearl Harbor (search) was attacked and the Japanese were scoring one victory after another in the Pacific.
If we were attacking Mexico many months after Pearl Harbor then yes, I suspect maybe television crews would be wondering what was going on.
Would we second-guess Washington? Or Lincoln? Or Roosevelt?
Washington was fighting to make us free. Lincoln was fighting to preserve the union. Roosevelt was fighting to preserve the world's democracies (most notably, ours). Bush is fighting to rid Iraq of WMDS rid Iraq of al Queda Get those SOBs that caused 9-11 oh hell, he's fighting for something.
What about Westmoreland and Johnson? I guess those two slipped his mind.
I suspect we'd still be under British rule, or a divided nation after a Civil War, or a losing nation after a World War.
We'd be speaking English in a nation divided along party lines.
Then we didn't have the luxury of journalists second-guessing soldiers. Now I wonder whether our soldiers worry we're second-guessing something else: their mission.
I'll leave alone the fact that there were people second guessing these guys, because facts get in the way of Fox News. I'll wonder aloud how second guessing the mission is somehow anti-troop. If he'd listen, I'd tell Mr. Cavuto that making sure the mission is correct is supporting the troops.
I have no doubt we can win this war. I have serious doubts whether some in the media even want us to.
There's that damned media again. Do Fox, Hannity, Rush, O'Reilly, et al even consider themselves the media?
I wonder what would happen if we had a media that really looked at things today. I wonder if we wouldn't have given up on Bush already.
