I don't want to hear "Huzzah, we captured Saddam!" or "Huzzah, the Iraqis love freedom that we bestowed upon them (amidst the daily explosions...)" or "Huzzah, the infrastructure of Iraq is improving"...
I've got to say that overall I wasn't impressed. Although Bush didn't fumble over words like he has in the past, he did mispronounce "nucular" a few times, which is always good for a chuckle. But overall I thought the whole speech lacked any legitimate substance.
I mean, I hate to resort to all the same old responses, but seriously-- the administration needs to respond to the issues, and the issue in my mind, and I think most Americans would agree with me, is "how the hell did we get ourselves into this mess, and who should be held accountable for it?"

I want to understand why we went there, and to try to tie it into 9-11 I think is laughable at best. It is an insult to my intelligence, that Saddam, who, aside from a skirmish with Iran and hostilities towards Kuwait, has remained largely a problem only to itself. It has no history of producing the terrorists that many of its sister nations are famous for, it was never a training ground, or a rallying point.
And now, 2 years later, 1700 GIs later, it is all of those things. And we ought to be optimistic about the situation? You've got to be kidding me.
In other news, Huzzah! Canada! who joins the free-thinking nations of Belgium and Holland in allowing gay marriages.
