CALL TO ACTION:
Twenty years ago the powerless citizens from a South American nation living under a "junta" opted for regime change. Since elections were rigged, protests restricted, and freedom of the press supressed (does this all sound too familiar?), it was up to the silent majority to empower themselves. Once a week after sundown the people turned off their house lights, banged their pots, rattled their pans, rang bells, clanged pipes, and made enough noice to let their illigitimate government know they were out there and they weren't happy.
Just imagine this scenario; you're a fat cat politician sitting in your cozy office, the intern/page on his/her knees, you got a drawer full of bribe/pork moneys... but suddenly you hear a cacophony of metals - tin, copper, aluminum - building slowly into a beastly grinding machine. Makes you think... What if these fools melt the metal down? What if they get other metals like lead? What if? Within a year this banana republic toppled and a new democratic governement took its place. Two decades later the republic continues to strive forward to make a better nation.
The question is - do you see a better future for us? Let Washington know we're out there and that we're not happy with the invasion of Iraq. On July 15th, no matter where you be (e.g. 9pm Pacific, 10pm Mountain, 11pm Central, 12am Eastern) give a pal/family member/neighbor any old casserole and bang away for 15 minutes. We hope to repeat this every THIRD FRIDAY of the MONTH till our troops come home.
What do you think? It's worth a shot to get Americans to open their eyes to whats goin on with the war.
