*Rick Santorum: That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing. And when you destroy that you have a dramatic impact on the quality --
AP: I'm sorry, I didn't think I was going to talk about "man on dog" with a United States senator, it's sort of freaking me out.

As referenced above, Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has long been a friend to homosexuals, refusing to compare them to men who have sex with children and/or men who have sex with dogs.
He has demonstrated this again, by standing by his spokesman Robert L. Traynham, who confirmed recently that he is gay.
"Not only is Mr. Traynham an exemplary staffer, but he is also a trusted friend confidante to me and my family. Mr. Traynham is a valued member of my staff and I regret that this effort on behalf of people who oppose me has made him a target of bigotry in their eyes," Santorum said in a statement released to Advocate.com.
"Mr. Traynham continues to have my full support and confidence as well as my prayers as he navigates this rude and mean-spirited invasion of his personal life," Santorum's statement concluded.
When asked how he could be the spokesperson for a Senator who is an outspoken opponent of gay rights (and who has openly advocated invading people's personal sexual lives), Traynham said:
"Senator Santorum is a man of principle. He is a man who sticks up for what he believes in. I strongly do support Senator Santorum."
What's the saying? "Politics makes strange bedfellows." (Although Santorum would probably object to that phrasing in this particular case.)
