I keep getting emails from
truthout.org and you know what - they are great. I don't read every link, but I'll be damned if there isn't a few times each week that I find a great story on that site. Here is a taste:
Baghdad Hospital Doctors on Strike
25,000 Civilians Killed since Iraq Invasion
Judith Coburn | Unnamed and Unnoticed: Iraqi Casualties
Antoine de Gaudemar | High Risks in Gaza
Bush Raises Threshold for Firing Aides in Leak Probe
US to Aid India on Nuclear Power
Robert Scheer | Iraq's Dangerous New Friend
Southern Rebels Could Yield Next Supreme Court Justice
EPA Paid Weather Channel for Videos
Matt Bai | George Lakoff and the Framing Wars
Dozens Killed in Gun Battles, Ambushes in Iraq
But, I fear we have seen the end of Truthout.org.
Like NPR, it seems that everyone likes to have the truthout.org service, but no one wants to pay.
This is no problem for Republicans because they have their "truth" paid for by corporate interests. In exchange, their "truth" is tainted, impure, and ugly. We get the real truth, not just through truthout.org, but through many sites. Many of you might not have read truthout.org before. Maybe you have your own personal favorite.
But, tell me, can you risk losing a valuable resource like this for the lack of giving $5?
Time to buck up, fella. I'm cash strapped right now, so I gave $10 - not much. But, you know what? That is $10 they didn't have before. So, again, I have no affiliation with truthout.org whatsoever, but I think it is time for a special fundraiser.
Dinners for Democrats
This week, don't eat out, don't go to the movies, don't rent a movie, turn your thermostat up two degrees, do some little thing that will save you $5 and donate it instead to truthout.org. It's Easy, and it will make you feel good.
