For those of you out there who are much more familiar with the law than I am, I have a question that other Kossacks might be asking themselves as well.
As Senator Pat Roberts from Kansas and others proceed with their attacks against Mr. Fitzgerald and his grand jury investigation, do they not risk compromising that investigation?
In the event that they DO compromise the investigation, to what extent do they open themselves up to charges of obstruction of justice?
What about the pundits and members of the press who seem to be dedicated to undermining even the traction of this story?
Are there other issues which those of us less intimate with the law might be interested in learning about concerning these issues? I might not know enough about the law to know if I'm even asking the right questions. It just seems to me that those not directly or even indirectly involved in "the leak" are placing themselves at some risk legally, though I am willing to admit that politics trumps the law all too frequently.
If any lawyers or other legal folks have any light to shine on these question, I'd be grateful to hear from you.
