Ahh, so you thought the weekend was going to drift by with no Plame news? Fear not, Kosnians!
Time has a short article today that delves into the background of the State Dept. memo we've been hearing about -- and it concludes with this ominous shot across Karl Rove's bow:
When Pincus' article ran on June 12, the circle of senior officials who knew about the identity of Wilson's wife expanded. . . . John McLaughlin, then deputy head of the CIA, confirms that the White House asked about the Wilson trip, but can't remember exactly when. One thing he's sure of, says McLaughlin, who has been interviewed by prosecutors, is that "we looked into it and found the facts of it, and passed it on."
As I just wrote at Needlenose, given the way the contents of the State Dept. memo were leaked piecemeal over several days, I suspect that very soon, we'll be learning the "facts of it" that McLaughlin supposedly can't remember just now. I expect to have more analysis up over there in about an hour.
