NEW YORK Two days after his lawyer confirmed that his name turned up as a source in Matthew Cooper's notes on the Valerie Plame/CIA case, top White House adviser Karl Rove refused to answer questions about the development today.

Great framing by E&P, and even better snark. "Confirmed" as in we can assume he's named in Cooper's notes because his lawyer DID NOT REFUTE the idea, but instead, leapt to Karl's defense instead.
It's apparent that the more Rove refuses to face the press on this issue, the more the press will push the story. They smell the blood in the water, and no matter how partisan they are...drama will always win out.
Outside the presidential rally in Morgantown, one protester made reference to the case, holding a sign that read: "Jail Karl Rove," according to a New York Times dispatch.
Damn. Some of these protesters are FAST! Now if only the Democratic party could turn around a messaging campaign this quickly.
Anyhow, I guess it's safe to assume that E&P will be on the front lines of this story, covering O'Donnell's back while he continues to fire flak in Rove's direction over the next few days.
What O'Donnell says and does during this coming work week will be crucial to pushing the story forward. The MSM was able to comfortably ignore him over the holiday weekend, but it'll be exponentially harder as O'Donnell (hopefully) works to turn up the heat during the regular news cycle.
We need this story to hit prime time, irregardless of what Fitzgerald is working on, in order for it achieve maximum negative impact on Planet GOP. Is O'Donnell ready to carry the water, or was he just blowing smoke up our collective asses for the 4th?
It was one hell of a fireworks display this weekend, maybe the dry and brittle media landscape is about the catch fire.
We should all do our part, working our damnedest to fan those flames.
