Iraq's U.S. administrator suggested Monday he would block any move by Iraqi leaders to make Islamic law the backbone of an interim constitution.
How come Bush wants seperation of church and state in Iraq and the opposite here?
In U.S. Schools: Advocating the teaching of sectarian documents in the public schools, captive audience school prayer, and the diversion of public funds to religious institutions (via vouchers and other schemes), the Religious Right is using our children's education as a vehicle for government endorsement and subsidy of religion.
In U.S. Courts: On both the state and federal levels, the Right is working to transform our nation's courts into ones dominated by extremist judges who view the wall between church and state as a permeable membrane.
On Capitol Hill: The Religious Right is pressing forward with a legislative agenda that includes amending the Constitution to permit government-sponsored religious activities. For instance, President George W. Bush backs legislation that would provide taxpayer dollars to religious groups that offer social services, while allowing them to discriminate in both hiring and in the provision of services, as well as proselytize.
I guess he thinks his theocracy is better than theirs.
