So, what happens when Michael Moore wants to put on a film festival?
The sky falls. The universe tilts off it's axis. And, of course, the Republicans scream out their outrage at his temerity!
Or, as their local intellectual mouthpiece put it:
"People are fed up and tired with the extreme left-wing radical fringe America haters, family haters, Christian haters," said Genie Aldrich, a resident of nearby Suttons Bay and founder of the Traverse Bay Freedom Film Festival.
Excuse me? Founder of the FREEDOM film festival? what's that about?
Well read on and you shall find out!
Well, aparently it is a needed counterpoint to Moores festival after Genie "tried unsuccessfully last month to dissuade the city commission from letting Moore's group show films in a municipal waterfront park."
Yep, if you don't agree with something..... BAN IT!
So what horrid things is Michael planning to show? What exactly has the knee-jerk idiots up in arms?
"The lineup includes 31 movies, among them classics such as "Jaws" and "Casablanca," and recently produced independents including "Broken Flowers," winner of the grand prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival."
Casablanca? That had that commie-lovin' Bogart in it right? Jaws? Pure liberal propoganda!
How many of Mr. Moores film in the lineup? None. How many directly political films? None.
Why? Because the festival is about "artistically superior filmaking".
The line-up of the Republican festival to counteract this horrid liberal propoganda?
a dozen movies, including favorites such as "Top Gun" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark." The others will be independent, politically oriented productions. Among them: "In the Face of Evil," a tribute to Ronald Reagan; "Confronting Iraq," a defense of the war in Iraq sponsored by the conservative group Accuracy in Media; and "Michael Moore Hates America."
Hey! Wait a minute! I thought it was Michael Moore putting on the objectionable partisan event?
Michael, needless to say, is amused at all this kerfuffle over nothing. His response?
"I like it when Republicans take ideas of mine," said Moore, a Flint, Mich. native who has residences in neighboring Antrim County and New York City. "I have a few more where those came from, if they'd like to sit down and talk."
lmfao.
