After two prosecutors quit last year the Pentagon hired Sgt Shultz to investigate. (Air Force Brig. Gen. Thomas Hemingway plays Schultzy) The WSJ played straight man in making me LMAO.
We found absolutely no evidence of ethical violations, no evidence of any criminal misconduct Gen. Hemingway acknowledges personality differences and an "awful lot of miscommunications" in the prosecution office.
Again from WSJ (sub. only)
The two prosecutors, Maj. John Carr and Maj. Robert Preston accused fellow prosecutors of ignoring torture allegations, failing to protect exculpatory information, and witholding information from superiors. Altogether, the actions "may constitute dereliction of duty, false official statements or other criminal conduct"
Nothing new right? But it gets very funny. After complaining in writing (e-mail) to their boss Col. Borch, Borch gives out copies with a cover page accusing both of "monstrous lies". They claim Borch told people the judges will be "handpicked and will not acquit" and advising others not to put things in writing. Soooo, after several reviews that noone is allowed to see:
Col. Borch was reassigned to the Army's JAG school in Charlottesville, VA and later retired from the military. He is now court clerk at the U.S. District Court in Raleigh, NC. He didn't return telephone messages.
Quickly, later, whatever; he's gone, Nice government job, soon to get two very nice pensions, and not dumb enough to return a reporters phone calls.
Next up, Navy Cmdr. Scott Lang accused of suppressing torture allegations including Maj. Carr's copy of Cmdr. Langs notes which is "now missing from my notebook."
Cmdr. Lang has since retired from the Navy. He didn't return a telephone call seeking comment.
Hmmmm. Probably worried Bush is gonna call to offer him that open 9th circuit seat.
defense lawyers obtained the e-mails last week from Col. Will Gunn (don't laugh), the departing head of office, who is retiring from the Air Force. He couldn't be reached for comment.
Damn hard to make disappear, that e-mail. Probably have to settle for liason at Boeing.
Apparently ethics is pass/fail at JAG school. One thing they definitely do not teach is how to answer the phone. As for the Maj.Carr and Maj. Preston, who requested transfers and are still in the military?
Neither returned calls seeking comment
