The grim reality of the major geopolitical disaster we foresaw is finally being acknowledged by the Bushies. It's a strong likelihood that there will be a major force reduction of US troops before the 2006 midterm elections. "Declare victory and go home" or "Cut and run", call it what you will. The security situation is not likely to get any better there in the short term. Which leaves 1) permanently higher oil prices 2) intense short- and medium-term poltical destabilization in a volatile region
There should be a price to pay for such a colossal blunder. At some point, it will become obvious to the general public (maybe already) and even to the media (not nearly yet) that Iraq has been a disaster for this country.
I think the phrase "Who Lost Iraq?" sums it up nicely. It ain't the Democrats. And it ain't the military. You can spin it around in circles, but it's going to be very tough to pin this this on anyone but the top officials of the Bush administration. So I think it's a good question for us to ask. And ask again.
