I'm tired of all this whining about how bad Iraq is. Sure, we coulda done a few things better. Like preventing all that looting before the country turned to chaos. And securing the water and power infastructure with as much focus as we did the oil. And not underestimating by 1/3 the number of troops required to stabilitize the country.
But none of that matters now. All we need to do is stick to the plan. We have a plan and we need to stick to it.
Now we had an election and that was good. These people need to know that they have a Democracy. Democracies make good neighbors. So we had an election and people voted. And then we're gonna have a constitution. A constitution is necessary so these people can govern themselves. That's what democracies do. They govern themselves. Just like here.
You see you got the Kurdis, the She-ites, and the Sunnis. And they're like tribes. As they would call it, nations. But I call em tribes. And they don't get along to well. These tribes. So they're gonna have to learn to get along. With their new constitution. And that's why we are there. So that they'll get along.
And they're also different religions. So they're gonna have to learn religious tolerance. Here, we tolerate religions.
Now some of these tribes, the Sunnis, the She-ites, and the Kurdis, want to be nations. With states. Nation states. The Kurdis even have their own flag. The Kurdi flag. But the kurdis and the She-ites and the Sunnis are gonna have to learn to live together as Iraqis. With an Iraqi flag. And that's why we had an election.
Then, once the Kurdis and the She-ites and the Sunnis all learn to get along, tolerate each other's religions, and like the Iraqi flag, and have a constitution, then we'll leave.
