Starting September 1st, Randi Rhodes' full show will be
aired live on XM Radio channel 167, the Air America Radio channel. Currently the first two hours of Randi Rhodes is preempted for the Ed Schultz Show, which is not part of the AAR broadcast network. But Randi Rhodes fans can rejoice, that's about to change.
I know many people were unhappy that AAR signed an exclusive distribution deal with XM Radio, abandoning Sirius Radio listeners. This has been hashed out in numerous diaries, but my opinion is that all of us who listen to satellite radio are early adopters and with that comes the risk of picking the wrong technology horse. XM Radio's listener base is significantly higher than Sirius' (although that could change with Howard Stern's move to Sirius).
But the results for XM subscribers of the AAR/XM deal are paying off with the addition of Randi Rhodes' full 4-hour daily show, live. This brings the full national weekday AAR programming to XM Radio, although Alan Colmes is aired over Mike Malloy's time slot and the Mike Malloy show is delayed until after Alan Colmes. No word yet if that's going to change, although I would not be surprised. There's also no word if XM Radio will carry Ed Schultz elsewhere.
