I bet I'm not the only one to notice the parallels between Bush's actions around Katrina and his actions around 911.
In both cases, Bush and his administration had warnings of looming catastrophe. In both cases, experts recommended Bush take action. In both cases, Bush ignored the experts and focused on things that were important to him. Pre-911, Bushco was focused on Star Wars and - you guessed it - Iraq. Pre-Katrina, Bushco is still focused on Iraq.
Both mistakes have cost thousands of Americans their lives. They haven't cost Bush anything. To the contrary - 911 MADE Bush as a president.
The question is, will people see him for what he is now?
