Getting REAL tired of hearing people telling us that we shouldn't engage in the "blame game". They don't get it. Its not about who to blame, its about who is accountable. Its about who is responsible for our Government's piss poor response to a national crisis. That's what's its about.
Now Rethuglicans want us to wait. They claim that we must help the victims first before investigating the Katrina debacle. As if this country, which placed a man on the moon is incapable of doing both; simultaneously assisting the victims and investigating our miserable initial response.
I argued this point before
in an earlier diary, but now I submit to you that for national security WE MUST DO BOTH.
Unlike most other Federal agencies, Dept of Homeland Security and FEMA, (which sadly falls under its umbrella,) are two agencies that we cannot afford to have ill prepared at ANY TIME. They must be ready always. To wait months or years to investigate would be stupid. We need them to be good to go always. All this jazz about blame game is continuing to leave our nation in danger.
Supposed another Katrina hits, while we have the same leadership structure and polices that crippled us during Katrina intact. We would most likely have another similar response. FEMA is STILL headed by Michael "Heck of a job" Brown. Chertoff still runs DHS. No new changes in policies have been enacted. Can any of you say that another N.O. will not happen to us?
This talk of delaying our investigation into accountability is immature and insulting to our great nation.
We must investigate now, we must correct our mistake now, cause we do not know when the next major crisis will occur.
