I believe the most under-reported story of the Oklahoma Primary is the double digit finish of Republican presidential candidate Bill Wyatt.
Who? You ask. Try http://www.billwyatt.org for a look at Bill.
Here's what Bill had to say after his resounding defeat at the polls:
After reading a bunch of emails showing support for my cause I am starting to look at the results in OK in a new light. Sure I was a protest vote, which was my plan and 10% against the most powerful man in the world is respectable. I don't know what I can do with that, but many of the people who emailed me recognized that there wasn't any significant media coverage of my campaign and 10% is enough to send a message to Bush that he needs to get his ducks in order."
Literally thousands of Republicans who don't even know the man trudged to their polling place and filled in their optical ballot with the funky felt tip pen indicating they wanted Bill instead of Bush.
We've got a lot of cranks in Oklahoma. A former neighbor of mine used to run for office regularly. She wore hats. She NEVER got 10% of the vote. There's another perenial candidate who calls himself Einstein. He's never gotten 10% either. That said, the natives must be getting restless.
And I think it's high time someone out there noticed.
