Tell any
Bushtard that bodies are lying in the streets of New Orleans, and he will clutch his Bible, scowl, and ask,
"Your point is...?"
After all, if they ain't fetus's or comatose white women, they must be looters. (I'm kidding? See Rush Limbaugh etc. and watch them Switftboat the victims.)
So how do we reach them? Let's try numbers. Not fuzzy numbers (like "how many kittens can Bill Frist fit in a microwave oven"). I mean the only numbers the moral right CARES about. I mean $$$.
So let's represent the $100 million (ballpark figure--see my homework below) Bush saved 2001-2005 by cutting flood and hurricane preparedness in Louisiana...this way:
x
So how many x's do you need to equal the estimated $100 billion of damage from Katrina?
This many:
xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx
That's right. 1,000 x's. So, dear Freepers, enjoy Bush's tax cut for the wealthiest 1%--assholes.
P.S. If you supported Bush before, you were stupid. If you support him now, you are stupid AND EVIL. You are going to hell. You will burn forever and ever in a lake of fire, and once a day throughout all eternity, Bush--aboard Satan's private jet, and wearing the absolutely positively wonderfullest flight suit you have ever, ever seen--will look down upon you as he flies over the fiery pit and says, "It must be twice as bad on the ground. Heh, heh, heh." Amen.
SHOW YOUR HOMEWORK:
- According to this article, Bush cut funding as follows from 2001 to 2005:
- - $69 down to $32.2 million for flood control projects in S.E. Louisiana.
- - $10 to $5.7 million for hurricane protection.
- So, that totals:
- - $79 down to $37.9 million; a drop of $41.1 million by 2005; if I round it off to $40 million, and "guestimate" an approximately equal cut for each of the 4 years (i.e., $10, 20, 30, 40 million), "savings" would total $100 million. (I don't know if there were equal cuts each year, so this is ballpark.)
- Estimates of $100 Billion damage from Katrina, are here.
- $100 million X 1,000 = $100 billion.
- No--not all the $100 billion loss was preventable. But much was, according to this and this and this. So instead of 1,000 x's use 500, or whatever. Was it worth it?
- BTW, I've heard $100 million would fund about half a day of the Iraq war--except that war is on the national credit card, so I guess it's not fair to link it.
- Final question: Who was Bush listening to when he bet on these odds? Maybe it was his Creation Science advisors, telling him global warming does not exist, so the ever increasing number and ferocity of hurricanes was only a fluke. Or maybe it was his ethics guru and Bookie of Virtues Bill Bennet, who knows a lot about gambling and loosing. Anyway we lost $100 billion and we have no idea how many lives. And Bush lost a day or two from the longest Presidential vacation in history. I seriously wonder which loss he regrets more.
