Downing Street Minutes and Pre-War Intelligence
Update [2005-6-15 14:30:19 by Terre]:: From Keshini Ladduwahetty (not sure who she represents - Conyer's staff?) who wrote to us at
DowningStreetMemo:
Thanks for the great job you're team is doing!
I've just learned from John Conyers' office that his hearing about the memo will be held Thursday, June 16 at 2:30PM in room HC9, a small room in the Capitol.
An overflow area will be at the DNC headquarters (430 S. Capitol St. SE, Washington DC 20003), which will be hooked up via TV or radio link.
I hope you post this on your website.
Thanks,
Keshini

Rep. John Conyers, Jr., and other Democrats hold a public hearing concerning the "Downing Street Memo" and pre-war intelligence on Iraq.
On May 1, 2005 a Sunday London Times article disclosed the details of a classified memo, also known as the "Downing Street Minutes", recounting the minutes of a July 2002 meeting of Prime Minister Tony Blair with his advisers that depicted an American president already committed to going to war in the summer of 2002, despite contrary assertions to the public and the Congress. The minutes also described apparent efforts by Bush administration officials to manipulate intelligence data in order to justify the war to the international community.
Scheduled time: 2:00? (2:30)PM - EDT
Schedule as of this posting
Time to get the word out to those who can record, and it would be nice if we could email C-Span and ask them to put it on one of the other 2 channels instead.
[editor's note, by Terre] A couple posters made the astute observation, that realistically, C-Span and C-Span 2 have their hands full with House and Senate business during this time. Unfortunately, I'd completely forgotten to take that into consideration, in my immediate joy AND disappointment of the channel they chose. Please just send C-Span your THANKS!
[Update] joodleboodle just mentioned down thread that John Conyers is scheduled to be on Washington Journal tomorrow morning at 7:00AM EST.
Thanks for the update joodleboodle! Too early for me, so I'll have to watch the replay.
