Ontario Christian School has expelled a fourteen year old student, not because of anything she did, but because her parents are gay.
From the Wa-Po/AP
"A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.
Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother."
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at this, but it still disgusts me when this kind of thing happens. Allegedly Christian adults punishing a child because they don't approve of her parents. Her parents who, by the way, have been together for 22 years and have three daughters. And this from a school that brags that: "The school is becoming more diverse in cultures with about 40% of the students of some ethnic minority"
According to the article, "School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.". Seems like a strange complaint against her, considering she was a cheerleader. (Scroll about half-way down the page... warning, .pdf link. She's not in the picture but she's listed in the caption.) And not just any cheerleader, but a cheerleader for Jesus. She, along with the rest of the squad were applauded for placing second in the divisionals. "Thank you OCHS cheerleaders for using your talents to represent out school and serve the Lord" So, God/Jesus enjoys watching young school girls do cheerleading routines, but he hates lesbians. Who knew?
