Rolet's diary earlier asked the question (paraphrased): If there are really 65,000 registered dKos users, where are they all? There certainly aren't 65,000 different commenters daily, or--thankfully--65,000 diaries.
Obviously, some of us have moved out of the neighborhood. It's time to check on your neighbors. Here's how:
- Find your user ID. Mouse over your name under a comment, and it shows up in your status bar.
- Copy and paste this into your browser's location bar:
http://www.dailykos.com/user/uid:#####
Replace the ##### with the numbers in your 10-digit neighborhood (ie, 12350-12359).
- Check those users' diaries and comments--even comments archives, if necessary.
- Report results.
My results [and an update] below the fold.
UID 350: DJ--gone
UID 351: David Looney--gone
UID 352: PeWi--active, with a diary last week and many comments
UID 353: Castalia--no diaries since November, no comments since February
UID 354: Toml1954--no diaries since February, no comments since March
UID 355: Me!
UID 356: Ace Pumpkin--active, with a diary two weeks ago and many comments
UID 357: Ed Bear--casual user, with two comments in the last couple of months
UID 358: BlueSky61--gone
UID 359: dirigo--no comments since November
So three active users and one casual user: That means 6 of the ten people in my neighborhood have moved on. How about yours?
[Update:] Looks like most of us are finding only three or four active users. That would mean that of the 65,000 of us, only 25,000 may be really active. On the one hand, that's not amny of us, by percent. On the other hand,
that's a damn lot of people!
