Watching the peace rally on C-SPAN and wishing I were there, a speaker just mentioned Gandhi's strategy for defeating British Imperialism. He said that Gandhi used the power of the British Empire to defeat it. Like Aikido which focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using the enemies' own energy to gain control of them or to throw them away from you. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement.
How can we use Gandhi's philosophy and Aikido's fluidity to deflect the enemy's power?
We know how much trouble the recruiters are having finding new recruits. What if each and every one of us went on each of the military services' recruiting sites (active, reserve and National Guard) and gave information about ourselves. Ensuring that our stated age was within the target age, and waited for the call and mailings?
If we waste the recruiters' valuable time trying to recruit those of us who are too old, ill or simply unwilling to join the Bush Empire, that will be one less young man or woman who will be convinced to kill or be killed in an unjust war.
