I know the Democrats are in the minority, but I've found over and over again that they have very little fight in them (or at least that's what they display). According to
this article, it would seem that there would be enough ammunition to bring down not only the White House, but also Congress...
By not participating in the Republican whitewash, I guess the Dems are making a statement. I can see it getting easily mismanaged and out of hand, though, with the leaders saying one thing and their alleged party members going off on political tangents jockeying for position in some way or another.
If the Dems couldn't garner 100% resistance to Roberts, even just to say that they're toe-ing the party line, then I'm willing to bet that they'll drop the ball on this political bombshell too, unwilling or unable to capitalize on the overwhelming support of public opinion to gain a victory out of this somehow. And yes, it would be political, and yes, they'd get blamed for politicizing it, but so what?
I would love to see some toxic avenger, a creature with a spine, rise out of the unliveable sludge that is New Orleans, show up on the national scene with statements not only criticizing the current regime, but offering solutions as to how to fix it. Wouldn't that be great? But no, I have come to expect weakness and kowtowing by the current bunch that's in there...oh well.
