Second half goals by Steve Ralston and DaMarcus Beasely, combined with a shutout by goalie Kasey Keller, was enough to defeat the National Tean's biggest rival and clinch a trip to Germany next summer. The US also took over the lead in the CONCACAF qualification group
As someone who is not only a soccer journalist, but a soccer fan, this is something that I really needed. After a week of nothing but sadness and anger from watching the aftermath of Katrina, its nice to see the best that the US has to offer go out and come away with a big win tonight. Lets hope that the US will continue their winning ways next summer in the finals.
