Here is what he would have done.
By August 26th it being clear that a hurricane of at least category 3 and possibly 4 or 5 was going to strike in or near New Orleans President Bush canceled his Vacation and immediately flew back to Washington D.C.
Knowing that a significant portion of the affected areas NG was in IRAQ and after a short meeting to consult with the head of FEMA to determine which states had NG available Bush called up the appropriate Governors to request they begin pre-positioning them for a possible worst case scenario.
Bush in consultation with the Fema Director ordered the putting into place the supplies that would be needed if the worst happened. If it diddn't happen they would still be able to make good use of some if not all of those supplies.
Bush made sure Fema was helping the sates and cities potentially affected with any evacuation plans they had in place. Especially since there were significant numbers of poor who may not have ready access to a means of evacuation even if they wanted to.]
He would have been on the phone with leaders of other countries asking them for any help they may be able to provide to be ready in case the worst happened.
That is just a start to what a REAL PRESIDENT would have done, but since we have a PRETEND President that lives in a fantasy world. He went about his vacation, planned some speeches and photo ops. And worked on his golf game.
And since he appointed political hacks and other assorted cronies, who didn't have a clue how to do their jobs to all these important positions in his administration, instead of competent professionals none of them did anything either.
He then has the nerve to go on TV and say the response was unacceptable???? HOW DARE HE! It is his direct responsibility that many of those who have died and have yet to die should not have died.
He, the head of FEMA and most of the rest of his cabinent are guilty of Criminal negligence and that doesn't even begin to cover any of his budgetary priorities. He and the rest of his cronies need to be held accountable for this.
