I missed the part in the bible, and the Geneva Convention, that allows breaking of bones, asphyxiating, electro shocking, sexual abuse and degradation, and the desecration of the things others hold sacred. Could someone point that out to me?
The Bush Administration wraps itself in the mantra of Christian values but has not learned the simple truth that you cannot start wrong and do right.
Christian Value #1: When did lying become a Christian value? We know of the administration's duplicity in entering the war. If we had evidence of weapons of mass destruction, we should have turned the evidence over to the UN inspectors (without a Rumsfeld news conference), and allowed the inspectors to confirm the evidence for us. If it proved accurate, the rest of the world would have joined us in rooting out the threat. The Iraq debacle reaffirms you cannot start with a lie and hope to have anything good come of it.
Christian Value #2: When did Torture become a Christian value? The NYT reports that the DOD obtained the "evidence" we went to war on by torturing detainees. I missed the part in the bible, and the Geneva Convention, that allows breaking of bones, asphyxiating, electro shocking, sexual abuse and degradation, and the desecration of the things others hold sacred. Could someone point that out to me? And why in the world would we depend on such evidence? You cannot depend on information obtained when cutting off a person's body parts. They will tell you anything you want to hear to make you stop. Duh!!!
I could go on and on, but let's make this a parlor game. Pick the value, tell us why it does not compute.
