Before moving from the northeast to the south eight years ago I heard that the south was very different from the rest of the country. I never really believed it but after moving here I began to slowly realize that the south is very different. Some people down here haven't gotten past the civil war... and now it seems, based on the numbers below from Pew, they the may never let go of their beloved "W".
Why is the south the only region of the country that has "W" over 40%? Why is "W's" approval rating on average 6.3% higher in the south than in the rest of the country?
I think it is possible over time that the south will for a period become the "solid south" for Republicans while the rest of the country turns blue (and sane). I know the south is already solid for the Republicans but if the poll below is any indication we may be heading for more blue states (IA, OH, CO, AZ, NV, MO???).
I don't understand these people... can someone shed some light on this for me? I long for my people in the northeast!!!
See poll numbers below...
