Too often the Democrats have fallen for the Republican tactic of withholding vital information about an issue then forcing the Democrats to make decisions based on an incomplete record.
Think on these topics.
- Declaring war based on trumped up intelligence. Time and again the administration refuses to show all available information related to WMD in Iraq. Then they demand that the Democrats decide on war based only on the information the Presidents shows.
- The Medicare Prescription Drug benefit. The administration hides the true costs of this new law then force the Dems to vote based on this limited information they were provided.
- NSA Spying. The Republicans are now demanding that Democrats must that an American has been harmed by the spying.
This need to be stopped. How about demanding that everyone, with any authority to authorize spying sign an affidavit stating that no Americans, unrelated to Al Qeada, have not been monitored in anyway. I am of course assuming that there is no statute of limitation on lying to congress. Wouldn't this turn the tables on the Administration?
