I was just gonna correct Kos' second 't' in verboten but two other bloggers already beet me to it. So I was replying to another comment and while writing the name 'Diebold' it was the first time I noticed it even though I've seen this name so many times before. The first part of the name is the German word 'Dieb' which translated into English means 'thief'.
Diebold actually is a German surname and if you google it you will get a lot of German search results. But who would've ever thought that they were gonna take their name so seriously. It's a telling name if I ever saw one.
As far as I'm concerned the English word thief is probably derived from the German word Dieb since both languages have a lot of similarities in its vocabulary. This is, of course, because of the Anglo-Saxons invading Britain in the 8th Century. This actually proves that my Old English class at University was worth something ;)
