In the beginning there was the Pony Express.
Now we have the internet, MoveOn.org, DailyKos and a shitload of awesome independent thinkers. Through the internet the independent, free-thinking American public can unite and get independent, free-thinking Americans elected into office! When was the last time one of those went to Washington?
Picture an online MySpace style political forum! Myspace traffic rivals Google!
With millions of Americans, free-thinking political entities, coming online it becomes important to organize locally as it is easy to feel unimportant in the national spectrum of things.
We need a website like a politicized MySpace to bring people together of all political beliefs (you could affiliate yourself as a democrat, republican, independent, sick of bullshit party, whatever) where you can get to know people in your local area, talk politics, endorse candidates and organize the election fights.
Figure... 100,000 people are registered on a site. There are what, like 500 congressional districts? That would already unite together 200 people within their own district where they would have a forum to discuss politics, endorse parties, candidates and most importantly- cut through all the mass media propaganda bullshit and have rational dialogue.
If there was some way to divide up the people into a kind of "digital government" (of course there is, tell me about it or lets fucking build it together)?
It may be too late to impact the 2006 election, but we need to do what the right-wing did and organize! But we'll do it differently- with the power of the people united we can cast off the shackles of the two party system and get people with souls, ideas and consciouses into Washington.
Maybe something like this already exists? That would be dandy, but seriously people, if we could get 1% of the population to register for something like this, that'd be a damn good start.
