I don't understand how hundreds of thousands of people from all over this country can get together to protest a single injustice. They did it without blogs or pundits or polls. They are in the streets, American streets.
A large number of the protesters weren't born in this country, and they are in the streets. What is going on?
My first thought is that the BushCo laser beam of fear and constant propaganda has never been focused at them. For the most part, Mexican and other Latino immigrants live like they would in their home country. In closely knit communities. After all,how much does an illegal immigrant care about Jack Abramoff?
Or, perhaps these people know a tyrannical regime when they see it, and their reaction time is simply quicker.
Regardless, it moved me. It's amazing what being mired in an extended culture of fear will do to a person. It makes emerging out of the dark that much sweeter.
Peaceful people in the streets is exactly what the doctor ordered to get our country back. It might not be a bad idea to join our friends in our local squares and city parks.
